Worship service including a celebration of The Lord’s Supper, which Jesus shared with his disciples on that last night. Following this observance, the altar will be stripped bare (symbolizing the abandonment of Jesus by his disciples and the stripping of Jesus by the Roman soldiers before his crucifixion.)
A Tenebrae service (from the Latin meaning “darkness”), where the story of the suffering and death of Jesus is presented in readings from John’s gospel. Worshipers are asked to leave the service in silence to ponder the impact of Christ's death and await the celebration of the coming Resurrection.
