Announcements
“SOUPER” BOWL XVI – Our 16th annual “Souper” Bowl starts today and runs through Super Bowl Sunday, February 8. This friendly competition is between the “Screen” side and the “Organ” side to see which side can bring in the most soup for the needy by Super Bowl Sunday. So please bring soup (canned or dry) each week and place it at the altar on “your” side to help your team win.
2026 GREETERS – It’s an easy job! Just arrive 20-25 minutes before our service begins. Hand out the bulletin with a smile and a friendly Hello/Good Morning/Nice to see you-etc. We need you for one month. Should there be a Sunday you can’t come, let me or Cindy Saylor know so someone can take your place. There’s a sign up sheet on the table in the narthex. Contact person: Janet Wallett (410-861-8516)
CHURCH DIRECTORY – We have started working on creating a new church directory. This project is greatly needed and will be very helpful for folks to get to know one another. On the tables in the narthex are blank pages where you can fill in your information. Pictures will be taken at a later date here at the church. The plan is to create a booklet with pictures and contact information. Please consider helping us out with this. More details will be coming, as we gathered this information. Thanks! Cindy Saylor & Bob Bynion.
HUMAN RELATIONS DAY (January) – Ministries supported by these donations include Community Developers, United Methodist Voluntary Services & Youth Offender Rehabilitation Programs. These programs raise awareness and support to strengthen human relations through community and youth outreach.
VALENTINE CARDS DONATIONS – Each year our Sunday school children make and sign Valentine cards for our Veterans thanking them for their service to our country. If you would like to help with this effort unused cards can be donated. Cards will be delivered to the Mission BBQ restaurant, where they will be distributed to our veterans. There is a box in the narthex for your donations. Thanks!
COFFEE & CHAT – Thank you for the goodies that you have already brought in to share with others on Sunday mornings. It has been great. Please continue to volunteer on Sundays, especially on the 1st Sundays when we have communion. This is a great fellowship ministry and is a warm welcome to visitors too. A sign-up sheet is on the communion room door. Thanks to all who are willing to share! It is much appreciated.

Deer Park UMC in Mission – Our two women’s groups the United Methodist Women & Sisterhood did a lot to support the community in 2025. Both groups donated money to the Colliflower family after Tim’s accident. Each also provided meals for the families attending VBS. The UMW also donated to Everstand (Board of Child Care) and
to the OMF missionaries, Christoph & Lynette Meister. They
also sponsored the collection of items for the Shepherd’s Staff Blessings Closet and the collection of gift cards for a needy family at Mechanicsville Elementary. The UMW also organized several jobs for the upkeep of our church. And they are always available to assist at funeral luncheons. The Sisterhood group put together Easter Baskets for Shepherd’s Staff and sponsored collections for the Carroll Hospital ER Room, for the Furry Friends at Westminster Humane Society, for the Dove House, for the Pregnancy Center and the Carroll Community College Food Pantry. In addition the Sisterhood is responsible for providing the Welcome Bags that are given to visitors. If you are a women looking a way to service, please consider checking out one or both of these groups.
OFFERING ENVELOPE – In your January/February packet of envelopes is an Initial Offering envelope, donations given in this envelope help to defray the cost of the envelope program. It costs about $12 per person to mail out the envelopes throughout the year. Any questions or to request envelopes see Ruth Horner.
