Announcements
“SOUPER” BOWL XVI – Today is the 3rd quarter of our 16th annual “Souper” Bowl. With a delayed start and a snow out, the score is really low. “Organ” side: 20, “Screen” side: 86. We only have one more quarter to bring up the score. Both sides are urged to go for a TOUCHDOWN by putting “SOUPER” BOWL on your shopping lists & bringing in soup (can or dry). Place it on your side of the altar to help your team win! Remember every bowl of soup counts. All contributions go to CARROLL COUNT FOOD SUNDAY to help provide warm food or our neighbors in need.
2025 CONTRIBUTION STATEMENTS – Please pick-up your statement from Ruth Horner. Any statements not picked up today, will be mailed.
2026 GREETERS – It’s an easy job! Just arrive 20-25 minutes before our service begins. Hand out the bulletin with a smile and a friendly Hello/Good Morning/Nice to see you-etc. We need you for one month. Should there be a Sunday you can’t come, let me or Cindy Saylor know so someone can take your place. There’s a sign up sheet on the table in the narthex. Contact person: Janet Wallett (410-861-8516)
CAN YOU HELP? – The Seekers adult Sunday School class will be using the book “Give Up Something Bad for Lent” for our Lenten study beginning February 22. If you have a recyclable copy of this book (the Wednesday Bible Study group used it last year) and would like to donate or loan it to our class, please contact Joy Grimm (443-506-3209); [email protected]) by the end of today, February 1, as we need to order the remaining copies tomorrow. Thank you.
CHURCH DIRECTORY – We have started working on creating a new church directory. This project is greatly needed and will be very helpful for folks to get to know one another. On the tables in the narthex are blank pages where you can fill in your information. Pictures will be taken at a later date here at the church. The plan is to create a booklet with pictures and contact information. Please consider helping us out with this. More details will be coming, as we gathered this information. Thanks! Cindy Saylor & Bob Bynion.
VALENTINE CARDS DONATIONS – Each year our Sunday school children make and sign Valentine cards for our Veterans thanking them for their service to our country. If you would like to help with this effort unused cards can be donated. Cards will be delivered to the Mission BBQ restaurant, where they will be distributed to our veterans. There is a box in the narthex for your donations, needed by next Sunday, February 8. Thanks!
COFFEE & CHAT – Thank you to all who have brought in goodies to share with others on Sunday mornings. It has been great. Please continue to volunteer on Sundays, especially on the 1st Sundays when we have communion. This is a great fellowship ministry and is a warm welcome to visitors too. A sign-up sheet is on the communion room door.

Deer Park UMC in Mission – Meet Dr. Lester Dornon, is the UM missionary that we support. ester was born in Japan, the son of Methodist missionaries. Lester felt a call to practice medicine in a place where people have little or no access to healthcare. Lester and his wife, Deborah along with their 3 small children served in Nepal, from 1990 thru 2022. After their children were grown, LEs and Debbie returned to Nepal in 2012 and continue to serve there today. We will learn more about LEs and Debbie and Nepal next week. To support Dr. Lester Dornon in his mission, you can make a donation, mark it MISSIONARY. Or donations can be placed in the basket in the back of the church on communion Sundays.
OFFERING ENVELOPE – In your January/February packet of envelopes is an Initial Offering envelope, donations given in this envelope help to defray the cost of the envelope program. It costs about $12 per person to mail out the envelopes throughout the year. Any questions or to request envelopes see Ruth Horner.
