Dear Families,
We at Deer Park UM Church are excited to tell you about our upcoming Vacation Bible School program, so please mark June 19 – June 23, 2023 on your calendar. Our program is for ages 3 years through and including those entering 6th grade. You won’t want your children to miss the fun!

Our program is called “Hero Hotline: Called Together to Serve God” and will be hosted by the Professor and Super Meer the Meerkat Puppet who is very funny. Each evening they will use humor and fun to lay the foundation for the session’s activities during the opening assembly and then reinforce what the children have learned from each session in the closing assembly.

In the depths of a colorful underground cave, is the beating heart of the hero community, the Hero Hotline Headquarters where everyone’s gifts are valued, and every hero has a role to play. Each day at the Hero Hotline Headquarters, superheroes of all ages and abilities answer the call and join the Professor and veteran hero, Super Meer the Meerkat, to provide expert assistance and solutions to Hero Teams everywhere.

They’ll explore Old and New Testament stories and discover different pieces of protective armor representing truth, justice, peace, faith and salvation. After a high-energy opening assembly time our heros will make their way through 3 stations Music, Crafts, and Story Telling and then back to their classrooms for Reflection Time. The evening will end up back where it started, in the sanctuary, for our closing assembly.

Please plan to join us from 5:15 to 5:45 PM in our social hall each evening for an free light supper to help minimize the evening rush. We do ask that all children be supervised by a parent and/or guardian until it is time for our “official” Vacation Bible School opening time of 6:00 PM. As always, there will be a DAILY Sign-in/Sign-out sheet with your child’s classroom leader in the sanctuary that you will be asked to complete. We will be meeting and dismissing from the sanctuary daily to assure your child’s safety. We do ask that parents accompany their children from the meal to the sanctuary. Please plan to sign your children in with their leaders between 5:45 and 6:00 PM. Please plan to return by 8:00 PM to share the daily closing with your children.

Each day your child will be invited to wear the color of the day and to participate in our mission for the week. Our mission will be to collect non-perishable food items for children in need in our area through Carroll County Food Sunday. The color of the day and daily food item is listed below.
