God says, “As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you…”
Children’s Ministries area vital part of our community life here at Deer Park UMC. We are committed to teaching children the importance of God in their lives and in helping them grow into becoming disciples of Jesus Christ. We hope that every child will know they are loved and valued by God, the church, their community, their families and their peers.
The pastor or a layperson offers a brief children’s message during both worship services.
God’s Disciple Club
This program meets after the Children’s Message during the 8:30 Worship Service. All children over the age of 5 are welcome. Come join us for crafts, games, puzzles, service projects, fellowship, and much more! If you have questions, please contact Cindy in the church office (csayIor@deerparkumc.net or 410-848-2313), or the program’s coordinator, Nancy Baker (Nancy.Baker@presidential.com or 410-552-5413). Please leave a message if no one answers the phone.
Sunday School classes are held from 9:45 until 10:45 on Sunday mornings for children three years old and older. We use the curriculum, “Grow, Proclaim, Serve! – grow your faith by leaps and bounds”, which is designed to build a strong faith foundation for children, bringing them to a better understanding of God and what God calls them to be and do. Sunday school for all children begins with a meeting in the sanctuary for singing and watching a video. The series has a video each week – it’s set in the town of Leaper’s Pointe where the town leaders introduce the Bible story for the week. Then the children go off to their individual classrooms for further study and crafts.
The nursery is available during worship services for children ages 5 and under. Nursery care is also available during the Sunday school hour for children under age 3 whose families are attending adult Sunday school or visiting our Grace Cafe.
Sanctuary Observation Room
This room, which looks directly into the sanctuary, is equipped with soft lighting and rockers for use by families who feel that their child has become too restless during the service to remain in the sanctuary. Speakers ensure you will not miss any of the service. Please don’t hesitate to ask an usher for assistance.
